Color Lookup (.fcolorlookup)

A portable colour lookup table retaining native sample precision.

Reviewed against the application source on 5 October 2026. Focale is in active development; available commands and published packages may differ by build.

Use in the application

In Color Lookup, Load accepts .fcolorlookup or .cube. Save Focale preset exports the complete loaded table and becomes available once a table exists.

File structure

The adjustment envelope uses kind colorLookup and an empty settings object. The required lookupTable contains name, size, RGB values and optional nondefault domainMinimum/domainMaximum arrays. Samples retain their native float32 values.

Validation and limits

Maximum 32 MiB. The cube size is 2–64, with exactly size³ × 3 finite samples, a name of at most 4096 UTF-16 units and valid channel domains. A missing or invalid table rejects the entire preset.

Photoshop interchange

CUBE is import-only. Supported one-dimensional tables are expanded to a three-dimensional cube. Native export preserves the resolved table and no longer depends on the original CUBE file.
